“The Labyrinths of Sheffield” is an opportunity for members of the public to make their way through an outdoor labyrinth, specially created for reflection, relaxation and enjoyment.
Three of these labyrinths – co-designed by members of the local community, artists and academics – will be open for visitors to the Festival of the Mind 2018 in sites at Sheffield Cathedral, Weston Park and St Mary’s Church, Bramall Lane.
We’re inviting people with experience of mental health challenges to come together and help create a labyrinth for Weston Park. We’ll be collaborating creatively, but you don’t need to have any experience of art or design, just a willingness to get involved.
The day will start with a slow guided mindful walk to collect natural materials. Artists Rachel Massey and Sarah Jane Palmer will then work with you to create artworks with these materials, using plant printing and weaving.
You’ll be free to choose which activity to do and move freely between the two. Your work will form part of the construction of a full-sized labyrinth at Weston Park, one of three going on display as part of Festival of the Mind from 20-30th September 2018.
