‘Closer’ follows the lives of four people fuelled by love, lust and the blurred lines between the two. A powerful, darkly funny play that dissects the highs and lows of relationships and how honesty is frequently not the best policy. This is not a love story.
The production, which was first performed at the Royal National Theatre in 1997; is the second original play written by Patrick Marber. In 1998, it won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play and has since been performed around the world.
In 2004, ‘Closer’ was famously adapted into a Hollywood movie starring Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman, and Clive Owen and was nominated for two academy awards.
