Big Cemetery Birdwatch Tour — An event to tie in with the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch 2019.
At Sheffield General Cemetery
Sunday 27th January 2019
10-11am — Guided bird watching tour and RSPB survey. Starts at the Gatehouse and follows gentle paths around the lower part of the Cemetery. Do dress up warm and bring your own binoculars — we have some to lend children if you do not have any of your own.
11-12.30 — Twitcher's Cafe and kids craft in the Samuel Worth Chapel — make your own bird song loudspeaker and other fun crafts. Hot drinks and reasonably priced cakes can be purchased.
Join us for this fun event for both adults and children. Help us look for and record for the RSPB the Cemetery’s many birds with the help of binoculars. Our RSPB experts will be on hand to help you identify the birds and give you an insight into the fascinating world of British birds and those who visit in the winter. Adults — enjoy coffee and cakes afterwards in our ‘Twitchers Cafe’. Kids — fun bird themed crafts afterwards to make and take away. Tickets are free and can be reserved on Eventbrite (follow the link), however we suggest a £3 donation per person on the day — the ticket includes kids craft and a drink of squash for children, adults may make a natural pine cone bird feeder if they are feeling creative too! If you just come to do the craft activities and not the tour then a £1 donation per activity is suggested.
All proceeds to toward maintaining the Grade II* listed landscape of the cemetery park and its historic buildings.
Suitable for adults and children 4+ (accompanied by an adult). The route is mostly flat and suitable for buggies and wheelchairs — but do contact us if you need further information on accessibility. As it is a nature watching tour, we advise it is not suitable for dogs.
